Standing in the Rain

SpiritRise Songwriting Workshop participants came together 12 times over course of a year to write a total of 12 songs. Each monthly session, one of the 12 Powers served as the springboard and inspiration for what emerged...

For the power of Understanding, what came up during the writing process was the idea of deeper understanding, of seeing beyond difficult appearances and circumstances, and being open to seeing with inner understanding what is present for us in those challenging times.

May we all be open to seeing (with the heart) the highest good in all that arises in our experience…

Shout out to Workshop Participants/Songwriters: Elizabeth Allroth, Cindy Blank, Gina Donaldson, Sharon Dziubski, Rhonda Pignato, Rod Wessels, Kim-Char Meredith, Parker Meredith.

Dark clouds roll overhead
Wind whips and knocks me to my knees
I’m shaken and drenched and this experience
Confuses and frightens me
Still, I get back on my feet
Turn my ear upward  – I’m listening…

There’s a message in the rolling thunder
Beyond my fear and pain
And I grow and I gain by standing-under-
Standing-under-standing in the rain

Clouds are clearing, hints of blue
Frustration turns to faith even as it storms
Deeply I breathe, light breaking through
I can see more and more  (Chorus)

And I will not run away from what the storm has to say
There’s something here for me – there always is, there always is!

(Chorus – 2x)

  1. I live in the Arizona desert. And FINALLY yesterday late afternoon, I was standing in the rain, listening to the thunder! To find this song this morning was perfect. I love this! Thank you!
