Geneviève Behrend (1881-1960) was a French-born author and teacher of Mental Science, a New Thought discipline taught by Thomas Troward (see my book selection for The Power of Order). She was widowed at a young age and was discontent and directionless in her life until she discovered a manuscript by Thomas Troward. Directed by her spiritual wisdom, she intuitively knew that she would study with him, despite his strong admonition that he would not accept any students.
Barely 90 pages long, Your Invisible Power is one of the most potent and practical selections I could choose to illustrate the Power of Wisdom. Readers are introduced to the New Thought nuggets of Troward’s astounding philosophy, and will delight in reading how Behrend literally used Troward’s own discipline to overcome his resistance to teaching her. She became Troward’s only pupil – and it was Geneviève Behrend who would perpetuate his wisdom and share it with the world. Following her time with Troward, Behrend established and headed The School of the Builders in New York until 1925.
